Yunus Ibrahim’s story is one of ambition, tenacity and a deep love for the hospitality industry. Recently crowned Young Hotelier of the Year at the Hotelier Maldives Awards 2024, Yunus’ journey is an inspiration to aspiring hoteliers across the globe.
Yunus’ passion for hospitality was born from a childhood dream. Influenced by his uncle who was successful in the industry, Yunus knew from an early age that he wanted to carve his own path in this dynamic world. In 2009, his dream started to take shape when he landed his first job as a waiter at Kuramathi Island Resort. This was the start of an incredible journey.
While his first job as a waiter provided a valuable introduction, it was at Kudafushi Resort & Spa where Yunus really began to shine. Joining the resort during its pre-opening period in 2016, he demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to excellence. His talents were quickly recognised and he was quickly promoted to Restaurant Manager. Here, he demonstrated his ability to manage a diverse range of culinary experiences and impressed his superiors with his leadership skills. This stellar performance earned him further promotions, to Assistant F&B Manager and eventually F&B Manager.
Life’s journey is rarely without challenges. Yunus experienced many setbacks. However, he faced these challenges with a resolute spirit, guided by the belief that “small setbacks in life are not the end of the world”. This unwavering resilience is the cornerstone of his success, enabling him to withstand difficult situations and bounce back stronger.
Yoonus currently serves as Assistant F&B Manager at OBLU XPEREINCE Ailafushi and OBLU Select Lobigili, where he continues to contribute greatly, bringing his expertise and passion to two premier resorts. In particular, Yoonus has been successful in pre-opening projects, a testament to his ability to shape the guest experience from the ground up. He takes great pride in being part of the team that builds and defines the essence of the new resort.
