Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, co-founders of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, donated 30.94 Bitcoin, valued at more than $2 million, to former President Donald Trump’s campaign. Cameron and Tyler Cameron said the Winklevoss twins announced on their X accounts that they had each donated 15.47 BTC ($1 million) to Trump in an effort to put an end to the Biden administration’s war on cryptocurrencies, as the twins are unhappy with the Biden administration’s stance on cryptocurrency regulation.

Tyler Winklevoss criticized the Biden administration’s hostile approach to the crypto industry, accusing it of weaponizing government agencies to stifle innovation and target crypto companies. “The Biden administration has consistently attacked American businesses on all fronts and demonized its greatest heroes,” he said. He further highlighted the administration’s actions, including Operation Chokepoint 2.0, in which federal agencies allegedly pressured banks to avoid cryptocurrency business. Tyler argued that these tactics are harmful to the U.S. economy and innovation.

Tyler also slammed the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for not providing clear regulation of cryptocurrencies, instead choosing to apply outdated laws, which he argued are stifling the utility and growth of digital assets.
The Winklevoss twins believe that Trump’s pro-Bitcoin and pro-business stance is crucial to the future of the cryptocurrency industry in the U.S. Tyler stressed that a political shift is needed to prevent further damage to the industry and restore an environment conducive to innovation and economic growth.
“President Donald J. Trump is pro-Bitcoin, pro-crypto, and pro-business. That’s beyond debate. Anyone who claims otherwise is grossly mistaken, delusional, or not telling the truth,” Tyler concluded. “It’s time to take our country back. It’s time for the crypto army to send a message to Washington. It would be political suicide to attack us. This is why I will be voting for President Trump in November, and I hope you will too.
