S Hotels and Resorts PCL (SHR), an international hospitality company under Singha Estate, is celebrating the global Plastic Free July movement by introducing innovative vacation experiences with a focus on sustainability and nature. With eco-conscious tourism gaining momentum, SHR is committed to reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable practices.
Completely plastic-free, Crossroads Maldives has partnered with the Maldives’ Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy to jointly maintain the resort’s beautiful natural landscape. The resort also offers ecotourism classes for guests and local elementary school students. Additionally, the resort’s popular Junior Marine Biologist Program focuses on the impact of plastic pollution on marine life, and the Marine Discovery Centre hosts regular exhibits showcasing coral diversity and highlighting the importance of conservation.
“To remain at the forefront of environmental protection, all SHR hotels are taking concrete actions to protect the planet, such as phasing out single-use plastics, adopting electric vehicles for transportation, installing solar panels and on-site water treatment systems, and providing water fountains and eco-friendly bathroom amenities,” said Michael Marshall, CEO of S Hotels & Resorts. “This July, as part of the global Plastic Free July movement, we are proud to invite our guests to take part in hands-on activities and experiences that will make a positive contribution towards a cleaner and more sustainable world.”
