of National Bank of Cambodia Introducing the Bakong Tourists app, designed to simplify payments for international travellers.
The app, launched in Siem Reap on Aug. 19, 2024, will allow tourists to use their mobile devices to make payments at more than 3.3 million retail outlets across Cambodia.
By downloading the app and registering by email, tourists can top up their accounts and pay for goods and services using their KHQR code, reducing the need for cash and ensuring a seamless experience during their stay.
The app also has features such as the ability to send and receive money, generate KHQR codes for payment requests, deposit funds into bank accounts, track transactions, and convert between US dollars and Khmer Riels.
To get started, users can install the app, register and top up at the airport or hotel.
The Bakong Tourist App is Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
The soft launch event, which was attended by officials from various ministries and the private sector, marked an important step towards improving trade convenience for tourists in Cambodia.
