Have you ever participated in a protest? Do you do so?
If you’ve ever visited downtown Ottawa, you know that peaceful protests at Parliament House are commonplace. At any given time, there may be two or more groups on the hill holding signs and trying to raise awareness about a particular issue.
Recent years have also seen larger protests. In early 2022, an anti-lockdown protest convoy hit Wellington Street in front of Parliament House, where it remained for several weeks.
Recently, several protests have taken place in Europe and the United Kingdom, led by a surprising class of farmers. The reasons for the protests range from grain dumping on local markets to the EU’s farm-to-fork laws and so-called unfair trade.
Deep down, many farmers feel ignored or severely disadvantaged and are taking to the streets to protest with fertilizer and tractors. Is it enough to participate in the deployment of tractors to the Capitol?
