Teachers and students in grades 7 to 12 can learn about agriculture in Canada through a new edition of the “Real Dirt on Farming in the Classroom” e-learning resource, released May 22.
The resource was developed by Agriculture in the Classroom Canada (AITC-C) and Farm and Food Control (FFC) to provide students with the opportunity to explore important topics related to the agriculture and food industry, including the diverse people working in the industry, sustainable agricultural practices, the impact of climate change on agriculture, innovations in the sector, and animal welfare.
Online resources include: Sourcecontains multimedia content, lesson plans, mini-modules, and more to help students and teachers learn about the complexities of modern agriculture and the importance of sustainable food production.
“By providing students with access to accurate and engaging information about agriculture and food production, we can empower them to make informed food choices,” said Matthieu Rouleau, executive director of the AITC-C.
Kelly Daynard, executive director of Farm & Foodcare Ontario, said partnering with AITC-C was a great way to respond to requests from educators who want to use “The Real Dirt on Farming” in their classrooms.
