Lawmakers around the world are recognizing the medicinal properties of natural compounds found in cannabis and mushrooms. Once considered dangerous “drugs,” both are now widely legal. And entrepreneur Alex Wolff is paying attention to both.
He co-founded a cannabis business in 2017, built a 650,000-square-foot cultivation facility, and took the company public. He currently runs a mushroom-based nutritional supplement company called Eons, which he launched in 2021.
In a recent conversation, he shared Eons’ mission, the challenges of a regulated industry, and more. The entire audio is embedded below. The transcript has been edited for clarity and length.
Eric Bandholz: Please give me an overview.
Alex Wolf: I’ve started and sold several companies. The latest one is Eon. it is nutritional supplements A business that combines mushrooms and biotechnology. Our goal is to make a huge impact on mental health.
In 2017, I co-founded a company that has become one of Canada’s largest cannabis companies. We built, licensed and opened a 650,000 square foot facility in Quebec. That experience taught me valuable lessons in entrepreneurship. It’s been a tough two years.
Mushrooms can affect both physical and mental health, and even on a spiritual level. My current focus is on how mushrooms can heal and improve, especially in trace amounts. mental health.
Pioneers in so-called “high-risk” industries such as cannabis and mushrooms face challenges, especially in banking, payment processors, and marketing. But eventually I found a solution. Some people took a chance and wanted to work with us. If you are determined, there is always a way to make things work. Even now, legal psychedelic microdose products face regulatory hurdles when bringing them to market. But we can always find a solution.
Bandholz: What are the hurdles?
Wolf: Psychedelics encompasses a wide range of categories. The word itself means “revealing the soul” and helps people access parts of their consciousness. Many psychedelics have mind-altering effects ranging from mild to intense. Microdosing is subtle, but when done intentionally, it can have incredible healing effects.

My business partner is leading our research efforts. We are researching natural psychedelic compounds that provide mental health benefits without causing hallucinogenic effects. Over time, Dialed repairs GABA receptors in the brain, which control fear and anxiety. After 3-4 weeks of use, you will often notice that your triggers no longer cause stress.
We work on brain mapping and neuroscience to reveal how it creates new neural pathways and helps people respond to situations in healthier ways.
Our marketing strategy is also rooted in science and data. We are conducting a study with 100 veterans to show how Dialed can help with anxiety, post-traumatic stress syndrome, and addiction issues. Many veterans struggle with mental health, and if you can demonstrate the impact your product has on their health, it’s a win-win.
The data we collect increases reliability and validity. I also want to help young men and women struggling with comparison and identity issues on social media. Our goal is to have a positive impact on mental health and social issues.
